in the Belgian PRESS  ("...The Belgian Harry Potter!")

Actor/director Albay (who also plays the role of the Genie) proves to have an eye for visual and musical details and sucessfully creates a fairytale setting. Isra and the Magical Book is a warm and sympathetic fairytale movie, or “an ode to the book” as actor Opbrouck describes it.

(about the cast) They’re all fresh faces and they’re very motivated. I think we will be seeing them all back in Hollywood in a couple of years. (laughs)                                                                                 (Actor Jenne Decleir, ATV)

“The movie is an ode to imagination, an ode to fantasy, an ode to freedom of speech even. and most of all, the movie makes you want to pick up a book and read again. Without it being pedantic, the movie is a beautiful ode to ‘the book”.                                                             (Actor Wim Opbrouck, ATV)

Isra and the Magical Book clearly wants to convey a message to the public by tackling all sorts of different themes. Where is the line between a white lie and a serious lie? How does bilingualism work in practice when your dad is Turkish, and your mom is Belgian? All these questions are answered adequately in the movie.                                         (VERTIGO magazine)
